Support the Project

Our vision is to celebrate the work of an incredibly talented, dedicated, and tenacious group of craftspeople - great lakes surf craft shapers. To fully achieve our vision, we need your support.

Our project is funded by the University of Illinois at Chicago 2022 Award for Creative Activity. This funding has allowed our all-volunteer team to obtain the basic equipment critical to documenting meetings with surf craft designers and makers, to do limited travel for research in the region, and to create a documentation book.

After a host of interviews we decided to put the bulk of our resources behind a call for new work that would allow us to capture comprehensive documentation of design process, building process, and the finished craft in the water. The surf craft commissions we are organizing will be documented in a beautifully designed book and publicly exhibited.
